Whitbread Race, the start to the Volvo Ocean Race -2014-15

Whereas preparations for the coming Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 are progressing, a film is released of the 1st Whitbread race. It is a Race summary remastered to HD quality and shows amazing difference between the Sailing experienced then against present day sailing. 

The route for the coming Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 has been changed from the image shown before. 
The New Route and by now most likely the confirmed route is shown below.

As of today, some one-design boats VO65 are ready and out with the crews for learning, training and improvements. The Ladies were sailing their boat Team SCA Ocean Racing, as firsts and have already considerable experiences build. 
Further confirmed Boats to participate are:

• AbuDhabi Ocean Racing, skippered by Ian Walker
• Dongfeng Race Team, a Chinese entry 
• Team Brunel, a Dutch entry skippered by Bouwe Bekking

And more Teams are expected to join. 

The Start will be 4th October 2014 with an In-Port Race in Alicante and the start of the 1st Leg on 11th October 2014 - Alicante - Cape Town.

No doubt there will be a VIRTUAL VOLVOOCEANRACE (VORG) like in the previous years and I will update this blog till the start on 4th October and most important during the VORG.
